Concrete scanning, rebar location Hilti Ferroscan and X-Scan PS1000
Our eddy current concrete scanners Hilti Ferroscan PS200, PS300 and Proceq Profometer 650 AI can locate rebar and very accurately determine the spacing of bars in concrete. They enable us to measure concrete cover as well as to estimate the diameter of bars in reinforced concrete structures. The Hilti X-Scan PS1000 and GSSI StructureScan Mini XT ground penetrating radars (GPR) allows us to detect even several layers of metal and non-metal objects in concrete. In combination with the Ferroscan and Profometer electromagnetic concrete scanners, it allows us to even more accurately inspect structural elements such as ceilings, walls, columns, stairs, beams or lintels in structures such as buildings, bridges or tunnels.
Ferroscan – rebar location, concrete cover measurement, bar diameter estimation
Concrete scanning with the Hilti Ferroscan or Proceq Profometer 650 AI systems allows you to save time needed to make numerous breakouts of rebar. Most importantly, in contrast to random uncovering of reinforcing bars, concrete scanning allows for a reliable determination of rebar parameters without the need to partly demolishing structural elements.
Ferroscan enable us to check the correctness of the rebar in newly built facilities, to validate it in the existing ones (especially in situation of the absence of archival documentation), as well as, for example, checking the thickness of the concrete cover enabling verification of the concrete fire resistance. Due to the unambiguous results of concrete scanning, preparation of structural condition assessments, large-area measurements of the concrete cover thickness or inspections of reinforced concrete structures are significantly less time-consuming and highly accurate.
X-Scan PS1000 – detection of rebar, tendons, pipes and voids in concrete
Due to the fact that concrete scanning with the Hilti X-Scan PS1000 and GSSI StrucutreScan Mini XT systems is based on the GPR technology, it does not have to be limited to the detection of the first reinforcement layer only; materials of the detected objects are not a limitation either. This allows us to locate metal and fibre reinforced polymer (FRP) bars, tendons, metal and plastic pipes, as well as to detect voids in structures (e.g. hollows, concrete honeycombing, chimney flues). Even more possibilities are provided by the ability to change the polarization of the accessory Palm XT antenna of the StructureScan Mini XT GPR.
The combination of the advantages of these two technologies allows us to obtain the most reliable results of concrete scanning, especially where precision is of utmost importance, e.g. when pointing a safe position for drilling in existing concrete structural elements.
We invite you to learn more about the technical capabilities of the devices and take a look at the price list of the concrete scanning services. In case of any doubts, we will be happy to answer all your questions regarding the concrete scanning.
